sane membrane

Dimpora believes that their biodegradable membrane will soon be used to produce sustainable, comfortable and high-performance outdoor wear across the world. The Switzerland-based team developed a functional, halogen- and microplastic-free membrane. The biodegradable polymer is mixed with mineral-based particles coated with a naturally hydrophobic substance. When the particles are dissolved, the hydrophobic coating remains inside the pores, leaving them functionalized and small enough to resist raindrops while big enough to allow sweat to escape. Dimpora hopes that this will finally allow outdoor enthusiasts to enjoy nature without wearing environmentally-damaging gear.
